Providing socks for individuals experiencing homelessness
For individuals experiencing homelessness, socks are a much-needed, often hard to come by necessity. It is reported that socks are the number 1 most requested item in shelters. San Francisco, our hometown, has an estimated 7,499 people living on the streets — each and every day (and night).
The idea of giving a pair of socks for every pair purchased is pretty great — and to be honest, we can’t take credit for coming up with it. A number of other sock companies are tackling this very same issue and while it would be nice to claim we came up with it, we’re just happy to be a part of a wider effort to alleviate some of the problem.
Hooray Sock Co. is proud to partner with ECS to provide our new, well-made socks to individuals experiencing homelessness in San Francisco.
Our first donation of Hooray Socks — June 22, 2018
How it works
For each pair of Hooray Socks sold from June 2018 through June 2019 (online or in-store), we will donate a pair to Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco (ECS) whose mission it is to help homeless and very low-income people every day and every night obtain the housing, jobs, shelter, and essential services each person needs to prevent and end homelessness. ECS is San Francisco’s largest, most comprehensive provider of services and supportive housing.
